Sleep is a very good thing

Not sure what other authors do to celebrate finishing a book. Charli’s got some cool rituals. Me? I promised myself a nap. Yes, I lead such an exciting existence. But yesterday I dropped the kids off at school and swore when I got back home that I was going to crawl into bed and sleep for at least an hour. Uhm well, I didn’t wake up for four hours. But man did that feel good.

When I got up, the Fedex man had dropped my copy edits on my doorstep. Good thing I got that nap in first lol.

I had also told myself that I’d take a few days off, but the nap did wonders for my attitude so I got a bunch of little projects done that I’d been putting off. Like writing a long ass email to my web goddess about updates to my website. Also got blurbs written for For Her Pleasure.

Hubby, who’s been out of town, got in late and then he commandeered my laptop to install the new version of Microsoft Office. If I hadn’t finished my book yet, I would have never let him touch my computer. But since I have a few days in which to meltdown and scream obscenities at the new Word I went ahead and let him. I. Hate. Change. I was so pissed when my computer “automatically” updated me to the new Internet Explorer because it took me a damn week to figure out how to use it. My universe tends to tilt when something looks different when I’m nice and comfy with the old way.

Ya think?

My horoscope for today. I blame Steph for the fact that I even read this. Uhm this is the first one I’ve ever read in my life. Color me NOT impressed.

All aspects of communication are strained today as the Full Moon opposes the Sun in your 3rd House of Information. Your schedule may get so complex and unwieldy that you can no longer manage it. Unfortunately, there might not be an easy way out of this situation. Face your circumstances with practicality. If there isn’t enough time or resources, figure out how to do more with less.”

Gee, I couldn’t figure that one out on my own….

My solution? Uhm I’ve forbidden myself to go to bed tonight until the book is DONE. FINISHED. COMPLETED. Unfortunately, it SHOULD have been done like 47 pages ago. The bad news is I figure I have at least 15 more to go. I guess I’m just too damn long winded…. But hey, on the bright side, readers will get their money’s worth with this long ass book. :rockthefuckon:

Someone shoot me

Lordy but what a week. Uhm, I got like no writing done. And I got no sleep. I’m at that “stupid” stage when you go for so long without sleep that your brain just shuts down. :faint:

This project that my sister came over to help me with? KICKED. OUR. ASSES. Seriously. :kap: We’ve done so much folding and hole punching that my HANDS hurt. My palms ache. We’re talking non stop from the time we get up to 2am in the morning, eyes crossing, marathon.

I finally gave up on half of it and took it all the Office Depot and dumped it with a very nice lady who folded and assembled the papers into booklets. The bad news is, my sister left this morning and I still have to put all the folded, hole punched papers TOGETHER and bind them. All 750 of them. :cursesign:

The girl at Office Depot, however, is going to be my new best friend. We talked about printing and binding projects and she gave me a super price and was very willing to help in any way she could. So uhm, yeah, I have two bigger projects coming up and Im so not tackling it by myself like I did this one. Not to mention, I’m not sure my sister is going to speak to me for awhile after I worked her fingers to the bone.

BUT. The upside? The booklets really look gorgeous. They aren’t half assed. They’re pretty and shiny so all that detail to the little stuff paid off. Even I gave up a week’s worth of sleep to do it.

What was I sniffing…

I only half jokingly told Amy yesterday that I think I was on drugs when I said I’d have my book finished this week. Goal is to be finished no later than Sunday night. Weeeelll. There’s a slight issue. Had two practices yesterday afternoon, two games tonight, game on Thursday, game on Saturday. My sister is arriving today to help me put together stuff for RT so we’ll be jamming on that. So uhm, really, just when did I think I was going to write this week??

Last night I stayed up to get the page count in. Sleep is overrated, so I guess sleep is going to have to go.

:passedout:

The craziness that is

little league. :beam: My two youngest are playing baseball and softball this year. So far it’s been one huge chaotic, unorganized mess. First game is on Saturday. Uhm, they’ve had like three practices. Earlier this week, I got a call that HALF of my daughters team had quit and we no longer HAD a team and that if she wanted to play, she’d have to move to the other team in her age group. The very NEXT day, I get a call that my son’s team no longer has a coach. First game is this Saturday. No idea if they’d find a replacement. They did. No idea how that’s going to go over.

I’m all for little league being FUN and nothing else, but can someone tell me how such a clusterfuck can possibly be fun? The poor kids are running around like chickens with their heads cut off. :idontknow:

So anyway, my weekend, starting tonight, will be spent out at the ball field. I’m trying really hard to contain my enthusiasm…

Fuck up + two hours sleep = one big headache

I was up late last night. Very, very late. Part of the reason is, my husband is out of town and when he’s not here, I always stay up late, enjoy the quiet house and get some work done. I was writing along, get to the pivotal scene, the scene from which everything left in the book stems, and it doesn’t work. Does. Not. Work. :crying:

I wouldn’t mind it not working if I knew how to fix it. But I don’t. So no, once I finally did manage to get to bed, I didn’t get much sleep.

So today, I’ve got a raging headache and I’m about to fall over. I lead such an exciting life…

And it's quiet again

Really, REALLY quiet. After week with both the kids and the hubby home, things got a little crazy around here. Today is just the calm before the storm, though. This week promises to be a little nuts. Hubby’s leaving tomorrow on a business trip. I have kids to take to a bazillion baseball and softball practices (I really need to clone myself) and I have a book to finish.

Hubby and I were planning our summer vacation last night. We always hate it when one vacation comes to an end, so we usually start planning the next so we have something to look forward to. This year it would be nice to be able to schedule it when I dont have edits and a book releasing.

So my to do list for the week sounds something like this. Write. A lot. Finish mini ARCs. Clone self. Try not to lose mind.

Scarce

The rain has stopped so hopefully the rest of spring break will be salvaged  I’m gonna spend the next several days hopefully having lots of fun with the family.

See y’all next week!

WIP tag

Annmarie tagged me with this WIP thingy. Im stealing shamelessly from her blog (as in copying and pasting)

The instructions: Turn to page 123 in your work-in-progress. (If you haven’t gotten to page 123 yet, then turn to page 23. If you haven’t gotten there yet, then get busy and write page 23.) Count down four sentences and then instead of just the fifth sentence, give us the whole paragraph.

I tend to have uhm very short paragraphs, and as it happened, the part I turned to was mostly dialogue so I gave a few lines. A warning for any tender ears/eyes, the following excerpt contains adult words. If you’re easily offended….then what the hell are you doing at my blog anyway? :lol2:

Dark Desires (working title) coming May to Berkley (unedited and all that jazz, not only that, but subject to be completely removed from the final product based on my whim/current mood)

She watched from her periphery but he never looked her way. He backed out of the lot and headed down the long driveway, his gaze locked in front of him.

“Want to tell me what all that was about?” she asked when they turned onto the highway.

She heard something that sounded like a grunt. Unwilling to let the silence continue, she turned in her seat to face him.

“It was nothing,” he muttered.

Her face twisted with incredulity. “Nothing?” She stared at him in shock. “I can still feel the marks on my ass, feel your fingers in my pussy. I can still taste you in my mouth.”

He gaped at her, his eyes wide with surprise. “Don’t be crude, Faith. It doesn’t suit you.”

I’m gonna tag Amy since I know for a fact, she’s finished with the first draft of her WIP so she shouldn’t have any problem looking up the required passage :pffftt:

Undenied

Here is the cover for Undenied. Anne did a good job of capturing “Wes” for me :lol2:
