Little Deer Slayer

We spent the entire weekend hunting. It was the youth only hunt and so we took our three kiddos out. As I previously mentioned, my six year old daughter decided this was her year to get her first deer. She wanted to outdo my middle son since he was seven when he bagged his. Well, I’m happy to say she did it! :woot:

It was such a fun weekend. The “girls” split off from the guys and we took one tree stand while hubby and the boys took another. I was so impressed with her. She was so focused and she handled her gun like a dream. After she shot and knew she’d downed the deer, she jumped up and down shouting, “I got it! I got it!” Then she hugged me like mad for several minutes.

When we got down to go look at it, she squatted by the deer and touched it reverently and said in an awed voice, “I’m going to remember this day forever.” I was all teary eyed and said, “Me too!”

I have one very proud little girl and an even prouder daddy :lol2:

Gorgeous Cover!

This is for my January “Sharon Long” release titled Her Majesty, My Love. This is honestly one of THE most gorgous ebook covers I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see this in print! I LOVE my cover artist.

Sharpshooter

Weekend was great. We took the kids to the shooting range yesterday because the youth hunt is this next weekend. My six year old daughter has decided that this is HER year to bag her first deer. And I’ll be damned if the little squirt didn’t nail her targets. She had the tightest pattern of the three kiddos. She’s competitive lol. (takes after her mama :lol2:) My middle son got his first deer last year at age 7 so she’s determined to one up him by getting hers at 6.

I jokingly told my husband that our hunting days were pretty much over because with three kids all clamoring to take down a deer, he and I won’t exactly get the opportunity for a shot :headscratch:

So that’s where we’ll be this next weekend. At the deer camp with three wannabe deer slayers. The upside is I don’t ever have to worry about us starving. :whoo:

Weather Woes

ok so earlier in the week I posted about rainy days and how I loved them…of course that’s BEFORE we got a bazillion inches of rain, tornadoes and massive flooding.

Seriously, what started out as a nice rain shower turned into a mammoth rain event. Last year it was Hurricane Rita, this year huge floods. Lovely. One family I know of JUST got their house repaired from all the Rita damage. Well, then a tornado ripped through and demolished their house. Think they’re wondering who the hell they pissed off?

Southeast Texas looks like a friggin’ lake. There are neighborhoods under TWENTY feet of water. I kid you not. Village creek which had been very dry prior to this week’s rain, we’re talking maybe 6 inches deep in parts. Uhm it’s overflowed its banks and spilled WAY over into connecting areas. They’ve been getting people out of their houses in boats. I feel like I’m on an island because my town is actually one of the highest points in our area. But the neighboring communities? A complete clusterfuck.

So I think I’ll take back all I said about lovely rainy days. Several counties here are being declared disaster areas. Gee, like we didn’t get enough of that LAST year for the hurricane. :cursesign:

Im such a domestic goddess…

God I hope my husband isn’t reading this because I may have to resucitate him after that title. :lol2:

Ok but seriously, I rock. Two days ago I cooked roasted garlic crusted, pan seared trout with rasberry chipotle. OMG it was to die for. Tonight? I cooked crab legs. Mmmmmm.

It’s been a busy weekend and it’s only half over, but I have a HUGE announcement. I mean this is huge. See, when we moved into this house over 4 years ago, there were these hideous PINK blinds in the living room. The chick who lived here before us LOVED pink (bitch) You wouldn’t believe all the pink shit in my house. So anyway, I’ve been swearing I’m going to get rid of those damn blinds for 4 years. I FINALLY did it.

I now have lovely wooden blinds and a very cool bamboo shade for my back door. It looks SO much better in here. I hate pink! LOATHE pink. Pink is for pussies! :shoot:

Unfortunately I still have a pink bathtub. :cursesign:

Blogging Day

I’m over at Writeminded and Romancing the Blog today, so as you can imagine, by the time I got here, I don’t have a lot else running around my brain to say. :headscratch:

We’re supposed to get our first cold front this weekend. Now, understand, this is a cold front by Texas standards. Our high is supposed to be something like 67 :lol2: But hey, that’s COLD for this time of year lolololol.

I’ve been getting a lot of reader email about Colters’ Woman, and I just want to say how much I appreciate readers taking the time to let me know they enjoyed the story.

I’ve stated in my yahoo group but I’ll say it here as well, I plan to write a short story, sorta kind of an epilogue, but basically just a look down the road a bit for Colters’ Woman. It’ll go up on my website as a free download in December. My thank you and a Christmas pressie to all of those who bought Colters’ Woman.

I love it when I get paid

Ahhh it’s been a good mail week so far  Yesterday the Fedex man delivered my Berkley contract and my advance check :elephant: I heart the Fedex man.

And today, I got more books. :lol2:

Monday, and where is October going?

October is usually one of those long ass months for me. That and January, but damn, it’s already the 9th. I’ve blinked and the month is whizzing by.

Over the weekend, I took my daughter to get her hair cut. OMG we got 8 inches lopped off. She looks cute as a button but she had gorgeous hair :crying:

I also spent the weekend reading. I got one of the Amazon orders in and quickly devoured all the books. Sigh…I really irritate myself. Because now I have nothing to read until the next order comes in, and usually I’d re-read books but the ones I got in first, well, they weren’t re-readable. :cursesign:

The week won’t be a complete loss (at least I hope not) Jaci Burton has a new EC release, and just because it’s her and I can usually count on an excellent read, I’ll venture over to EC and buy it.

Book Buying Binge

Two Amazon orders and one eharlequin order later, it’s obvious that A. I’m on a book binge, and B. I’ll do just about anything to avoid my current proposal. I haven’t bought many print books lately. I’ve been buying a lot of ebooks, though. I seem to go in cycles where I’ll find a lot of one or the other that intrigue me, but for some reason it never happens concurrently.

I’m in a rut with ebooks. I’ve read a few really good ones lately, and I’ll be talking about them next week over at Writeminded, but on the whole, I’m just not feeling the love with ebooks lately. Dunno if it’s me, if it’s just a dry spell or I’m just being pickier than I used to be.

I could say the same for print books, too, though. It’s been a long time since I bought a print book much less bookS. But Im hoping when my three boxes come in, I’ll find something I love within those pages. :chowtime:

And for another odd question, because, well, I’m odd, have you ever picked up a book, read it then thought it was the most horrid thing ever, but for some inexplicable reason you’ll actually buy the next one in the series or the next one out by that author? Uhm because this has happened to me. Honestly, the first book I picked up by this author, I was incredulous. It was that bad. But I still read it, even while snorting through some of the more ridiculous passages. I have no explanation for why I bought more or while I’ll buy the next one when it’s out. Maybe I’m a masochist? I still think they’re ridiculous but I’m still buying them. :idontknow:

Maybe I should get out more.
