Weekend funkdom

You know, I never thought I’d be glad for a Monday, but I’m actually glad the weekend is over. It wasn’t all bad. My daughter’s birthday was Saturday and celebrated. We’re having a party for her next weekend at my dad’s and most of the family will be there, so it should be a lot of fun.

The rest of the weekend, though, was just funky. As in me, in a funk. I hate that, especially when I don’t have a clear cut reason for the funkdom. My usual process is realizing I’m on my way to ickiness and then I immediately get all analytical and try to figure out why I’m off my game. Nope, couldn’t think of a reason. I guess we’re entitled to a funk every now and then lol.

In the end, I think it’s just a matter of fatigue. Writing, no matter how much we authors love it, is still a creative process, and it can be draining. Factor in all the career stuff that has nothing to do with actually crafting a book and it can get downright exhausting.

So anyway, I took the weekend off writing which is just as well because I was in no mood to create anything but a new soft spot in my pillow.

Mmmm food…

I love it when hubby reads my mind (it happens with scary frequency) I was just sitting here thinking about hungry I am and he called two seconds later to ask if I wanted to do lunch

So I have an hour left to bust ass writing so I can take a couple of hours off to go enjoy lunch. I’m about two thirds of the way finished with Stay With Me :whoo:

Misc stuff

Got a release date for Reckless today. Reckless is a short story included in Samhain’s Red Hot Summer anthology. J.T. Summers from Brazen is the hero and his heroine is set to drive him bonkers :rockthefuckon:

Anyhoo, June 3 is the date.

I mailed off Be With Me ahead of deadline today :whoo: That’s one more thing crossed off my to do list.

I have several ideas percolating in my poor overtaxed brain. All while I’m trying to write about poor Catherine, Rhys and Logan. I’m making them suffer because they’re making ME suffer. :sumo:

Speaking of suffering…my husband as the GOP debate on. Now tell me what did I do to deserve this? Haven’t I suffered enough? I guess I’m not a good republican because I’d rather go back to the dentist than listen to this.

Mmmmm

Sometimes a Cadbury egg just makes everything right.

Yes, I realize that it’s not even Valentines, and I have no idea why my Walmart is stocking cadbury eggs and Reeses peanut butter eggs, but hey, I’m not complaining. Easter candy rocks the socks off valentines candy anyway.

This week is really slugging by for me. I feel like a sloth. I’ve been getting all the little shit done which is good since I’ve done little else, namely the BIG things like finishing my novella….

I’m getting spoiled. I just got back from a week long vacation to Vegas with hubby but I’m already ready for another one. Somewhere. Anywhere. A girlfriend of mine and me are planning a trip the last week of Feb, so hopefully I won’t have too long to wait :whoo:

But hey, it WAS my sole resolution at New Years, to spend more time with people I love this year.

Writeminded annoyances

So I put up a contest post today to celebrate my birthday and first I got emails from readers because they can’t post to comments and now the entire site is down :cursesign:

Isn’t that typical? And I’m on my way out to the dentist (boy do I know how to celebrate)

At any rate, I’d offered a contest to win an a PDF ARC of Sweet Surrender over there. So if you find yourself over here because WM is uncooperative, feel free to enter here and I’ll count it as an entry even if WM later comes up. Super J will be on the job as soon as he can I’m sure.

So to enter, all you had to do was guess my age, which isn’t a heavily guarded secret, and I’m pretty sure it’s been mentioned a few times in passing. Contest is open until tomorrow morning sometime, and I’ll announce the winner shortly after.

If you don’t like or can’t bring yourself to read an electronic copy, then not to worry. I’ll be offering a print copy soon :weee:

I'll be under my rock…

for the next two weeks! Proposal, novella and a 100k galley to proof. Oh and a book to write in Feb…

:sumo:

And it piles up

I did manage to finish Be With Me and send it off to my agent and I’ve been mulling over one of the proposals I need to write. I’d forgotten about a project that’s due on the 20th *sigh* so that has to be up first today. I also got Golden Eyes back from my editor last night because I asked for it to come back to me one more time before it goes off to line edits (more of my analness) so I have to go through it one more time by this weekend. And to think I was supposed to be working on Stay With Me this week…

In the line of suckage…I’m worried i have another kidney stone :crying: I’m putting head in sand and hoping I don’t have an agonizing pain attack that tells me quite plainly that I DO have one. Me and pain don’t get along.

This week's "to do" list

I’ve already managed to mark off a few things on my list which makes me very happy :rockthefuckon:

But on to the things I haven’t got done yet…

Put finishing touches on Be With Me so I can mail it in.

Galleys for Beyond the Night *groan*

Work on Stay With Me

Proposal for Into the Lair

Did I mention that my daughter is home from school all week and that she decided it was a good time to get sick? *sigh*

Oh and there is a mountain, I mean MOUNTAIN of laundry because hello, I’ve been gone since the first of the year.

:crying:

Back and new covers

Loved the trip out to West Texas. It’s such gorgeous country. We’re talking ends of the earth here and where we hunt? No lights for miles and miles. Just big skies and lots of stars.

I bagged the biggest :rockthefuckon: heh!

So it’s back to work today. I have a ton of stuff to catch up on this week *sigh*

In the meantime, I have two new covers to show. One is for my Feb release, Into the Mist and the other is for my March release, Golden Eyes.

Here’s Into the Mist

And here’s Golden Eyes

Weeee

Just put the finishing touches on one of the two novellas I have to write this month. Up next are revisions on a story and the galley for a 100k book (oh joy) and then I have the second novella to finish and a proposal to get done by the end of this month.

We won’t even talk about what’s up in Feb. But yay for a leap year! lololol That gives me one more work day :help:

Tomorrow we’re headed to West Texas, BF West Texas that is, to hunt for a long weekend. My daughter is psyched. She got a really good one last year when we went out west.

Six hour drive means plenty of work time, but BF Texas means no internet, so I’ll have to find a hot spot SOMEWHERE so I can email my revisions in.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend!
