Exciting news about the Colters’ Legacy series!

I’m sorry to have made so many of you wait for an update on the Colter novella I was planning. I’ve been working on this for quite some time and I wanted to hold off until every thing was finalized and set so I could tell you with absolute certainty what was going on with the novella and a little something extra I hope you’ll all be excited about :)

I know that many of you were expecting the release of the Colter Christmas novella to be this fall and I realize you may be disappointed that it’s being postponed until 2012. I hope you’ll be happy about WHY, though.

I wanted not to exclude a large portion of my readership by releasing this digitally, but since it was a novella, there wasn’t much way around that. By my agent and my editor, being the geniuses they are, figured a solution that would enable ALL my readers to be able to buy and read the Colter novella.

Berkley is going to publish the Colter novella AND they’re going to release it in a special mass market stand alone novella, which means that you the reader aren’t buying an anthology with several other stories. You’ll be buying the Colter novella in print. Or if you’re a digital reader, you can of course purchase it as an ebook.

The print and the digital will release simultaneously, on the same day. No waiting a year between digital and print as you’ve done with the previous Colter releases.

Since this novella will be released in print/digital simultaneously, we had to delay the release until AFTER Colters’ Daughter releases in print in Feb 2012 because the novella spoils Colters’ Daughter. The novella takes place over a year after Colters’ Daughter and we very much wanted to preserve the timeline and not spoil Colters’ Daughter for those of you waiting to get it in print.

We’re planning to release the novella in print/digital in Summer/Fall 2012. As SOON as I have an exact date, you all will be the first to know. My editor has promised not to make you wait very long. They’re discussing when to publish it now and should have an answer for us soon. Regardless of when, the readers are uppermost in our minds. We wanted to give everyone a chance to have this novella and not just the digital readers out there.

And if this weren’t exciting enough, I’m pleased to announce that Berkley will also be publishing a fourth, full length Colters’ Legacy novel in April 2013. I don’t have a title yet. The heroine is someone briefly mentioned in Colters’ Daughter and someone you’ll meet in the upcoming Colter novella :)

I hope you’re as excited about this as me and my editor are. We talked a long time on the phone this afternoon about how to do this just perfectly for the readers who made this series so successful. We’re just thrilled to be able to do the novella in a way that allows everyone to read in their preferred format.

I realize there will be some disappointment in the delay and for that I apologize. I absolutely would not agree to a delay if I didn’t think it benefitted the readers, and in this case, I think it certainly does.

Much love and my sincerest thanks for making the Colters such a successful and fun series.

Maya

Why are these not with Samhain anymore? Do you know how much more the books will be now that they are with Berkley?

Wow I am so excited to have another Colter story to read, and not just the christmas one!!!! Congrats Maya, and well can’t wait!!!!

  6. I’ve read these only in digital, and read more and more this way, but I know a lot of people still prefer print so I think this is an absolutely fantastic thing! Though I know some print readers will be mildly upset that the previous Colter’s books will be in a larger format than the special edition novella. LOL you won’t be able to make every one happy…me I’m just happy to have another Colter story to look forward to :) Congrats!

And big congrats on the release of Seduction of a Highland Lass!!!!! Can’t wait to read it.

  7. Sharon says:

So excited, it will be worth the wait I am sure!

  8. Rypleigh says:

I’m sure both books will be worth the wait.

  9. Allie says:

Sounds good to me. I’m so glad to hear this update. I have also been wondering about the scene involving the Be With Me characters…?? I imagine you are working away on stuff that actually makes money :) and this is not a priority, but I just wondered if it was in the works.

    1. Maya says:

Yep I still am! I think I’m on version five *sigh*

      1. Allie says:

Well, I guess that’s good. I mean, for us readers. LOL. Not so much for the poor author. ;) Thanks for the update.

I will now have to go reread all the Colter books as someone else mentioned so I can figure out who might be in the new one. Always fun to have a little puzzle… :)

  10. Laura says:

Maya, Thank you. I was one of those readers that was not going to buy the Christmas Novell until I had read Colter’s Daughter. I am so please that the release will come after I have read it. I love the idea that ebooks and print books be released at the same time. There are still some among us who prefer the print. My library thanks you.

  12. Melanie says:

Well, I am not thrilled that we have to wait till next year to read the novella, I am excited that the story isn’t completely over.

Now, I have to read Colter’s daughter again to try to figure out who the gal in question is!?

And I am hoping the whole Colter clan makes an appearance in the new book…?

    1. Maya says:

      well of course! :)

  13. michelle says:

YAY i cant stop squealing which will soon start to earn me some interesting looks im sure since im at work. CANNOT WAIT for these two books… and i am dying for the Be With Me follow-up that was my first and Still my FAV of your books and was actually the book that branched me into Erotica… soooo glad i found you. :)

  14. Lisa T says:

OMG! I am soo excited. I have everything in both print and digital so I am covered wherever I go…LOL. Though some times in pays to be uncovered!

  15. Mary Y says:

Maya, I love your series and am so glad that you were able to add a 4th Coulter series but who is left of the Coulter that you can pair up? Also, why can’t you keep the digital as it is and leave the print until FALL/Summer 2012? Those who are use to print are use to waiting and us digital readers love the early release. And I agree with Connie, now we have to pay more with Berkely instead of Samhain.

  16. Catherine says:

Looking forward to the new stories. I am going to have to reread Colter’s Daughter to try to guess who the next heroine is. The only one I can think of at the moment is Max’s sister. Am I close????

  17. Sandi says:

This is my favourite series of over 200 I am following. Number one, top of the list. I track the new releases and wait with baited breath. I am an ereader and have both a sony and a kobo. I read all books digitally and then go out and purchase the hardcopy of only the very best to save and reread at a future date. A large percent of most readers books are give aways and enjoyed the first read but just take up space after that. Those I just delete. Your books require both digital and hardcopy. when ever they are released I will buy. When the series is finished I hope you sell the complete set. It is well worth it!

  18. Sue Rinn says:

I sooo can not wait. I love this series. I am happy that you think of all your readers, especially those who purchase paperbacks like me. Your books are worth the wait.

  19. Lora Summers says:

I can’t tell you how disgusted and sickened I was when I paid good money to download the Coulter series (because I sort of enjoyed the McCabe trilogy). I couldn’t believe the pornographic reading that I now had on my Nook. I am trying to find a way to delete them and I can assure you I will never buy ANY of your books again.

    1. Krystal says:

You ma’am are an idiot …obviously you can’t read very well

  20. Pam says:

I love the Colters series. it’s
been a long wait, I don’t have Nook or E-Books so I have had to wait longer :( but worth the wait. I can’t wait for more, this is been my favorite along with the Surrender series. Thank You. I have enjoyed all your books.

  21. Tracy R. says:

THANK YOU! I love your writing. I cannot wait for another Colter book. Can’t wait to read the Sweet series, but I must wait until my husband goes back to work LOL It’s a tough choice: pay the electric bill …. buy a book (or 6? LOL)

I think the biggest sggrtule at this point is belief. I have signed up with programs that do not deliver and support is there but may be hard to find. I lose the contact info and of course I never hear from them once I’ve signed up and so my new project stalls.Suz

  22. Tracy R. says:

    @Lora Summer,

I had to laugh! I have more than once downloaded a book that was NMS. It taught me a lesson (or 2) read the synopsis, download the sample, and always read from the cover. I have a kindle, so I don’t know how nook works, but on my kindle (and amazon) it very explicitly tells the reader what to expect m/m/f f/f/m bondage, whatever. Relax, it won’t be the first time you download something you didn’t like. No need to blame the author for YOUR mistake.

  23. Natassja N. says:

    YAY!!! cant wait ….
the first books i EVER read from you or erotic or even M/m/m/f was the coulters… is was soo good i bought for my ereader then paper back for ( winks ) my mother! lol
she loved it as well. i simply LOVE anything you write my faves are OF course the coulters ,Love me Still and Stay With Me I just cry with the last too but i have reread them a MILLION times!

  24. Natassja N. says:

    @ Lara Summer

i have a nook and depending on which kind you have its easy to delete a book simply go on to bn.com and put in you password and bang! you can delete books! but i must say i was shocked by reading your post ….not that you didnt like them as to each there own but by you actually coming on to ms. banks site and posting it up where all her loyal fans can read it and give you a piece of there mind and try and rip you a new one….. maybe next time you should either send a EMAIL to ms. banks … or follow what we are told as children

IF YOU DONT HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY …..DONT SAY IT AT ALL!

thank you , have a very lovely day. lmao

  30. Jane G. says:

I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Is it too much to hope for the return of Noah and Liam? They were introduced very briefly but seemed to spark some show of life into Lauren’s character. Fingers crossed. ;)

  31. Teresa L. says:

I read a lot of romance stories and love when a collection follows a family or group of friends. It’s always nice to get updates in later stories of characters that I’ve invested time with. I often wonder why the story is not told for the parents or the older family member that raised the main characters. I think this is a lost opportunity. I would love to read Maggie, Morgan, Caleb, and James Colter’s story

Thanks for the hours of enjoyment. I look forward to reading future publications.

  32. Thanks for sharing your ideas right here. The other issue is that if a problem takes place with a laptop or computer motherboard, folks should not take the risk of repairing it themselves for if it is not done right it can lead to permanent damage to the entire laptop. Most commonly it is safe to approach your dealer of any laptop with the repair of motherboard. They’ve got technicians who have an expertise in dealing with pc motherboard troubles and can get the right analysis and carry out repairs.
