Blog challenge part 1!

So I went book shopping last night after perusing the recommendations on the blog. I still haven’t gone through all of them but got a good start and downloaded lots of books to my Kindle. Here is what I decided to buy!

Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy
Witness by Beverly Barton
Christmas with her Boss by Marion Lennox
A Table for Three by Lainey Reese
Their One and Only by Trista Ann Michaels
Falke’s Peak by Anna Leigh Keaton and Madison Layle
Male Me by Amarinda Jones
Maggie’s Mates by Bronwyn Green
Three to Ride by Sophie Oak
Two to Love by Sophie Oak
Razor’s Edge by Jayne Rylon
Night is Darkest by Jayne Rylon
Eternal Flame by Cynthia Eden
Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden
Entwined by Elisabeth Naughton
Marked by Elisabeth Naughton
Turn it Up (ARC) by Vivien Arend

I’ve already read several and was very pleased by the results. I branched out, closed my eyes and went beyond my comfort zone on some of the choice and decided to read them anyway despite my prejudices lol. Jayne Rylon and Vivien Arend might give me hives before it’s over, but I’m determined to give the particular choices a shot *g*

Ironically, I do not read a lot of erotic romance at all. I’m super picky when I do read the genre, but I did choose several contemporary and even paranormal erotic books. I don’t read just a whole lot of paranormal books erotic or not erotic. Christine Feehan has always been my exception to that rule heee. But as I said, I’ve taken the plunge and bought books that I probably wouldn’t have ordinarily purchased and I’m really looking forward to challenging myself.

I’ll be doing more blog posts very soon as I let you know how I liked the books I’ve bought. I’ve already read about six on the list. (I was up all night reading!)

So what do you guys think of the choices so far? I’m hoping to scan through more of the recommendations and do some more shopping today *g*

    Hi Maya,

    I love your books!!!

I ended up really liking “Their One and Only” by Trista Ann Michaels. That is the only book from your list that I have read, but I have quite a few of them on my Nook. Hope you enjoy them!

  2. Shiloh says:

I think you made some good choices, personally! I have read Elisabeth Naughton and Cynthia Eden and love both! I have a couple Jayne Rylon that I downloaded to my nook, I have not read them yet but have heard great reviews!

    Happy reading!

  3. Malone says:

Hi Maya, I hope you enjoy reading them as I did. These are some great books you pick, enjoy hon!

  4. Venetia Marshall says:

I went shopping from you lists as well lol. Started reading Faulkes Peak last night. It was very good.

  5. Amy says:

Mouth to Mouth is great – good pick on that one. I’ve finished Three to Ride and I’m currently reading Two to Love by Sophie Oak and so far I’m loving her. Good choices !!!

  6. Christine says:

Their One and Only was an excellent read. I have read it more than once. I have not read the others but would be interested in hearing your opinions on them.

  7. Jayne Rylon says:

Oh boy :P I might break out in hives until I know if you enjoyed or hated the Men in Blue! *fingers crossed*

I think I have every book on your list other than the hardcore paranormals. Now if I could just snag some reading time!

    Happy reading,
    Jayne

  8. Jill says:

Mouth to Mouth I read and that’s a good choice. I may have to check out some of the others you chose.

  9. Marika Weber says:

You can’t miss with Trista Ann Michaels. I have re-read Their One and Only many times. Good luck with the challenge.

  10. Kris M says:

I really liked Mouth to Mouth (loved that the heroine is deaf). I also really enjoyed Their One and Only, it is on my keeper shelf. Happy Reading!

  11. MichelleKCanada says:

You compiled an awesome list. I have read a few of those myself. Some I have added to my “To Be Read” list.

I wish Margaret Ethridge’s ebook “Paramour” was out right now instead of 7 days from now. Are there titles from yesterday’s blog you would consider adding to your “TBR” list?

Happy New Year and I can’t wait for the next Kelly book. I love that family!

  12. Karen Morse says:

Maggie’s Mates was really good. THeir one and only was really good and a few others I have but have read yet. But especially love ur books. Karen

  13. Anita McCaskey says:

I enjoyed “Maggie’s Mates”, and I also like books written by Cynthia Eden. I’ve only read one book from Vivian Arend and it was pretty good. I am also a fan of Christine Feehan and very excited she is finally writing Zacarias de La Cruz’s story. She has been teasing us to who is Lifemate is going to be. The messages boards are swamped with speculation!

Just her latest Ghostwalker story, “Ruthless Game” and it was terrific – better than the last one which was good, too, but some I like better than others.

    Happy reading!

  14. Maya-I don’t know if you have read Cheyenne MCCray. She has a series that is called Armed and Dangerous. Special Ops type suspense that is very good. Here is a little of the blurb for Luke-Armed and Dangerous:
From the moment Luke Denver sees the sensual strawberry blonde, he knows he’s got to have her. Luke is intrigued by Trinity’s combination of sophistication and innocence, boldness and shyness. Even when Trinity tells him that she is taken, Luke doesn’t let that stop him, because he is determined to make her his…..no matter the cost.

If you haven’t read this series I hope you will give it a try.

  15. Leagh says:

I am really hoping you love Deadly Feat by Cynthia Eden as much as I did. I absolutely loved that book. It wasn’t too erotic but enough to keep you interested. The story, however, was simply amazing!!! *crossing fingers* Enjoy!!!

  16. Lea Ellen {night owl in IL} says:

In the post I made before (yesterday or early morning hours of today), I’d forgotten to include a few more suggestions –

‘The MacKenzie’s’ series by Linda Howard:
    1)MacKenzie’s Mountain
    2)MacKenzie’s Mission
    3)MacKenzie’s Pleasure
4)MacKenzie’s Magic novella (in various anthologies: Christmas Kisses; At His Mercy; MacKenzie’s Heroes; or The MacKenzie Family)
    5)A Game of Chance

Also by Linda H.: ‘Blair Mallory’ series –
    1)To Die For
    2)Drop Dead Gorgeous

    And ‘Son of the Morning’

3 author series [3 books] ‘Raintree’ series:
    1)’Inferno’ by Linda Howard
    2)’Haunted’ by Linda Winstead Jones
    3)’Sanctuary’ by Beverly Barton

‘The Wizard of Seattle’ by Kay Hooper

‘The Psy-Changeling Series’ by Nalini Singh

  17. Cindi Mitchell says:

Ooohh I really like Erin McCarthy. This challenge is great cuz while I was reading through the comments and your choices I found myself writing down multiple authors and books to look into!

  18. Dawn says:

I’ve read all these -A Table for Three by Lainey Reese,
Their One and Only by Trista Ann Michaels, Maggie’s Mates by Bronwyn Green, Razor’s Edge by Jayne Rylon,
Night is Darkest by Jayne Rylon, and these and enjoyed them all. I am a huge fan of Jayne Rylon, her book Dream Machine is my favorite of them all though. Hope you enjoy your reading this has been interesting and I have found a few reads I’m interested in as well :)

  19. Jill W says:

I think you chose well. I’ve read several on the list and have loved them. I read my first Sophie Oak after Shayla Black mentioned them and have since bought several more. And I have read three of Jayne’s books and really liked them even though they were a bit out of my normal “comfort zone”. I hope you remain hive-less!

  20. I loved Turn It Up by Vivian Arend. It actually made my list of favorite contemporary romances for 2010. I can’t wait to see what you think of it.

And Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy…one of my all time EVER favorite contemporary romances. I hope you love it as much as I did (it’s one of the few books that I’ve actually read more than once).

I’ve been thinking about your request for books and I have two. The first author you may have read before. It’s Jill Shalvis. I loved both Simply Irresistible and Slow Heat. Both made my tops list for 2010 (as well as Sweet Temptation by you). The other is from a smaller digital press. The author is Cherise Sinclair and I love her Club Shadowlands series. She writes some of the best BDSM love stories (at least in my opinion). Her cast of characters reminds me somewhat of your “Sweet” series in that they are a tight knit group of friends that you love to revisit in each new installment. Breaking Free and Lean On Me are two of my favorites.

Last but certainly not least is Wicked Burn by Beth Kery. It’s my favorite book that she has written (at least that I’ve read)

  21. Shannon says:

I can’t wait to read some off your list. I too needed ideas for new books. I would definitely suggest Lauren Dane’s Brown Sibling series and esp. her book Second Chances; Carina Press ebook. It will make you cry but it is sooooo worth it! It is a great BDSM love story with really good charcter development. I also agree with one readers comments on Cherise Sinclair. I love her Shadowland series.

  22. Hanna says:

I just finished reading Lorelei James’ books, you should read her Rough Riders series, yum. Hot naked cowboys!

  23. savonna says:

That’s my kind of shopping!! I’m a huge fan of Jayne Rylon and Vivian Arend. I think you’ll really enjoy them. I’m going to check out some of the other recommendations. I love finding new authors and then sharing them with my friends!! Happy reading!

  24. Amy J says:

I’ve read these from your list & liked ’em.
Their One and Only by Trista Ann Michaels
    Maggie’s Mates by Bronwyn Green

I have a lot of the same books on my wish list.
    Enjoy your reading!

  25. Melissa says:

I’ve read some on your list but was tickled to see some new things I’m adding to my Nook wish list! I love that you’ve posted what you’re going to check out.

    Enjoy!!

  26. Chrissie A says:

Sophie Oak is queen at the moment I can’t even tell ya how much I love her books she puts comedy in them. I never giggled so much ready an erotic novel before. You won’t be sorry with any choices of hers and she has three new books coming out in 2011.

  27. Chele Blades says:

Sophia Oak’s are great…i even love her Siren Collection and waiting for the third one…

My surprise was Lainey Reese’s Table for Three…I have to say I am a fan and waiting gor Brice’s story…thoroughly enjoyed it many times..

    Repectfully afan

  28. mbot565 says:

Wow, cool! I find I’ve read quite a few of them.
Love “Their One and Only” Trista Ann Michaels and all Jayne Rylon’s. Read “A Table for Three” Lainey Reese.
I’ll check out the rest. Good selection, Maya!

  29. Theresa says:

Funny the only author I have read is Erin McCarthy. I don’t have that one, but looking forward to picking it up. I will also have research the other author’s. I always like picking new author’s to read. I’m a big fan of JR Ward BDB, great paranormal.

  30. zina says:

Maya, that’s a good list I own a few of those myself

Three to Ride by Sophie Oak
    own haven’t read yet

Night is Darkest by Jayne Rylon
    Razor’s Edge by Jayne Rylon
I love Jayne Rylon and since I know you don’t really care for m/m yeah they may give you hives but I absolutely loved them, the emotions and stories are so gripping. Plus you meet JRad who is her next hero and the #1 man in my harem, Jayne gave him to me and I don’t share but you all are welcome to read about him but that’s it.

I don’t have Vivian’s arc like you do but she is another favorite and she writes so well I love her stories and she even put a dedication in Claiming Derryn to my husband Denny with a note to me as well.

    Enjoy you’re reading challenge.
    Zina

  31. jen h says:

I’ve read several off of your list. The one that jumped out at me is A Table For Three by L. Reese. She was a new author for me & I keep watching for her next book.

Like others how have posted – I enjoy Jayne Raylon. Good characters & can’t seem to stop reading until I get to the end of the book or the sun crests over the foothills. Have you read anything by Lisabet Sarai? One of her books is next on my TBR list…

    Happy Reading!

    Jen H.

  32. Angie Malone says:

I loved Mouth to Mouth by Erin McCarthy. I would also recommend Heiress for Hire by her, which is about a women who has to get a job when she is cut off from her trust fund. She becomes a caregiver for a little girl in a small town and her relationship with the girl as well as her father causes the woman to change her life. I would also recommend Dancing in the Moonlight by RaeAnne Thayne which is free on Kindle. The story is about a woman who returns to her hometown after be injured and the boy next door! If you want to get spicy, I would suggest Gail Faulkner or Cherise Sinclair, whom I think write great BDSM (like another author I know)! Angie

  33. Crystal Hynds says:

I actually have read a lot of the books you just purchased and love them! Hopefully you like them as much as I do!!! :)

  34. Natalie says:

Oh damn, I wish I hadn’t read this blog…. now I have so many new books to read it isn’t funny!!!

  35. Aussie girl says:

Even though you have a great list there, I really don’t think its complete without a Sarah McCarty book – start with the first of the Promise series and you’ll be immediately addicted – I was. Then move on to the Hells 8 boys – they don’t make men like that anymore (well if they do, where the heck are they???)

  36. Hi there are using WordPress for your site platform? I’m new to the blog world but I’m trying to get started and set up my own. Do you need any coding knowledge to make your own blog? Any help would be really appreciated!
