I was a little adrift this morning because back to school was so…over with so quickly. It was the first year I didn’t have to walk anyone into their class. I just dropped and drove away and then pondered how big my babies have gotten *sigh*
The youngest two were dragging. They were up late last night because they couldn’t sleep. I figure I’ll be picking up little zombies this afternoon, but at least they’ll sleep tonight!
Hubby cooks them breakfast every year for the first day of school. (Okay he cooks lots of other mornings too but the first day of school breakfast is tradition)
I expect in pretty short order, I’ll be facing the END of yet another school year and I’ll be complaining because I have no idea where time goes. I’ll stop there before I further depress myself…
First days are always the toughest. Even though by the end of the summer you can’t wait for them to start there is always that tug at your heart that your babies are growing up. Even though my babies are now nearing the end of college, first days are still an event. Since the first day of kindergarten for my oldest daughter, my husband and I always take the day off, make them breakfast, take them to school and then go out for breakfast and a little alone time for ourselves and then pick them up and shop for supplies. Today was the first day of the new semester for both of them so we started the routine all over again only now they drive themselves to school. Talk about a reality check!!! Enjoy the day because they will be home before you know it.
I got to walk mine today. They are now both in school. My youngest did not cry but he held my hand tightly. I waited til I got to the car to cry. I have no clue what to do with my free time.
We have one more week before we go back. My youngest will be in 10th grade this year! He is driving now too and I’m so not ready for any of this!
I’ll be crying in 2 weeks but not because I am dropping anyone off at school. My oldest is moving out and 90 minutes away! Who said she could grow up and move out? So much is changing around me and I didn’t prepare for any of it! :)
Lol…you’ll be fine…besides this frees up your time to write more :)
This was my first year too! I watched my oldest take the first steps into Jr High and my twin girls walk up to the middle school and go in w/ out ever looking back. You are not alone in your tears my dear.
Sounds like we all need a cookie! and maybe a tissue or two… :)
Well my babies are entering “Cegep” (pre-university) and University…..where has the time gone?
