The Darkest Hour ARC Giveaway

TDH

It’s been one year since ex-Navy SEAL Ethan Kelly last saw his wife Rachel alive. Overwhelmed by grief and guilt over his failures as a husband, Ethan shuts himself off from everything and everyone.

His brothers have tried to bring Ethan into the KGI fold, tried to break through the barriers he’s built around himself, but Ethan refuses to respond… until he receives anonymous information claiming Rachel is alive.

To save her, Ethan will have to dodge bullets, cross a jungle, and risk falling captive to a deadly drug cartel that threatens his own demise. And even if he succeeds, he’ll have to force Rachel to recover memories she can’t and doesn’t want to relive—the minute by minute terror of her darkest hour—for their love, and their lives, may depend on it.

The Darkest Hour kicks off my new action/adventure romantic suspense series that focuses on the Kelly family. I’m super excited about The Darkest Hour. I’ve waited a long time to tell Ethan and Rachel’s story. Right now there are plans for at least six books, and I hope to do more :)

Ali, a reader on the Writeminded Readers loop, asked for recommendations for books that involved a husband and a wife who for whatever reason were forced apart and the story focused on them coming back together. I always call them marriage in jeopardy stories and I LOVE them. It’s a particular favorite theme of mine. So tell me what you think of them? And if you’re so inclined, share some of your favorites! I’ll choose one winner at random from all the comments posted. The winner will be asked to provide their mailing address so I can ship the autographed ARC. I’ll leave entries open until this coming Sunday and I’ll post the winner Sunday night.

Good luck to everyone!

Oh, so niceee! I love your books, they have all about I like to read. Love u Maya, and congratualations for this one. =)))

  2. Sandi says:

I don’t know how readily available it is, but one that I really loved was Falling For (or From…I can’t really remember) Grace by Kristi Gold. It was the launch title for the now defunct Everlasting Love line from Harlequin.

They have several of those types of stories in that line, and I’ve read many of them and loved them! I was really sorry to see the Everlasting Love line go away.

  3. “Marriage in Jeopardy” one of my fave plots in romance. It’s not often we get to see the couple after their HEA, so it’s always good to see them living with all the problems that come along with a HEA, trying to reconnect again.

Cant wait to read The Darkest Hour, it sounds FAB!! and DAYUM Navy Seal…could you have made Ethan any sexier! lol. =)

  4. I love those type of stories too…..Mine is where some miscommunication happens or family member butts in to keep them apart. I will look forward to this and am sure I will enjoy it ;) Especially if it happens to be a Personal, autographed gift!

  5. barb says:

Love the Marriage in Jeopardy with very happy endings!!! Can’t wait to read this series. Love all of your books –

  6. JOYE says:

Boy does this one sound good. I have seen quite a few books with a soldier in them. Seems to be the hot topic in romance books and it is about time.

  7. Blanche says:

I can’t wait to read Darkest Hour either! :)

I do love “marriage in jepordy” type stories! One of the last ones I read and loved was Strong, Silent Type by Lorelei James!

  8. Kim says:

A great Marriage in Jeopardy story is “Wild Card” by Lora Leigh. Her stories are very hit or miss for me but this one is a total HIT! Maya-congrats on the new book…I’m so in love with your work!!

  9. mbot565 says:

One of my favorite marriage in jeopardy stories is Lorelei James’ “Strong, Silent Type” from her Rough Rider series.

I’m so excited to read this book of yours. Hope I get lucky & be able to read it early. :)

  10. Kelly says:

Wild Card by Lora Leigh is a great “marriage in jeopardy” book! I have to go through my library and see if I can find anything else.

So0o0o excited for this new series! It’s safe to say, that I think you kind of own me at this point, lol

  11. chelleyreads says:

i absolutely love “marriage in jeopardy” stories, one of my favorite romance themes. some of the ones i’ve read and enjoyed: book of scandal by julia london, silk and secrets by mary jo putney, secrets of the heart by candace camp, lessons from a courtesan by jenna petersen… methinks i’m overdue to read a romantic suspense with a marriage in jeopardy theme. i can’t wait to read darkest hour!!

  12. Jenni says:

This one is great! I hardly ever find any “marriage in jeopardy” books that arent focused mostly on the jeopardy. When really, the getting back together is the part we all want to read and believe in. Ok, so just read ‘Strong, Silent Type’ by Lorelei James and it fulfilled all my fantasies about a husband and wife rekindling the flames and finding some new sparks. YUM. Cant wait to see some other titles to try.

  13. Jess S. says:

Love to read marriage in jeopardy stories also. Really liked both Wild Card and Strong ,Silent Type. Can’t wait for The Darkest Hour!!!

  14. Andrea Becraft says:

A great marraige reuntied is Always in my Heart by Catherine Anderson. I loved it.

The book sounds great I would love to read it.

  15. Chelsea B. says:

You know, I’ve never read one! I know, shame! LOL :-)

  16. Linda Taylor says:

Love to read marriage in jeopardy stories. Really liked Wild Card. I also love Special Op, FBI or military guys. They always seem to dominate but they are still romantic with their wives or lovers.

  17. Michelle L. says:

Oh, sounds awesome & can’t wait to read it. I enjoy this type of book because it’s like what happens after the “Happily Ever After”. I call it the “HEA and then what…?” theme. LOL! :) When does it come out?

  18. Connie T says:

I can’t wait to read this series!

  19. Robin Vandiver says:

I love all your books. I think my favorite is the Colter series.
I look forward to reading this new series!

  20. Alisha says:

I love “marriage in jeopardy” stories especially if in an earlier story we where able to see the beginning of their relationship or maybe along this story we see how their relationships began. It’s been a while since I’ve read one of these books. If I’m not mistaken the book was by Debbie Macomber.

  21. Sabrina D says:

I love them! One of my favorites is To The Brink by Cindy Gerard…

  22. Christina R. says:

It’s a toss up between Lora Leigh’s Wildcard and Stay With Me by Maya Banks. I love marriage in jeopardy stories because it makes the ending so much sweeter when they come back together.

    Congrats on your upcoming releases!

  23. Colleen K. says:

Really liked Lorelei James “Strong, Silent Type. Another one is “Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch” by B.J Daniels. Hudson and Dana were engaged but he broke her heart, but came back five years later to work a case and win her back. (hope that one counts) Can not wait till Darkest Hour comes out.

  24. barbara gascho says:

Can’t wait for the book….my favorite book about marriage in jeopardy is “Stay With Me.” A very touching story that had you wishing the best to happen. Of course, strong military men are my favorite!!!!!!!

  25. Melissa says:

I can’t WAIT to read The Darkest Hour, Maya!! YEAH!!
I know I’ve read alot of these stories, but Sharon Sala’s seem to stick to the front of my mind, and just finished Torn Apart, her newest, which is about a married couple that is split up when the book begins. She makes you understand they still love one another, and that neither is exactly sure how they got where they are, and both blame themselves…so even though it’s not a favorite Sala for me, it’s still a really good story. I felt for them, and was rooting for them to get back together from the get go.

  26. leslie grabill says:

I think this give way rocks. I have 2 favorites if that is possible (wild card) Lora Leigh and (the eye of the tiger)Nicole Austin. I also love (stay with me )Maya Banks . I am so looking for the new series.. awesome Job Maya I love all of your book!!I have them all!!

  27. Deborah says:

Maya, this sounds like another winner! I love all of your books so far. Can’t wait for more!!! Love your style, girl!!!!

  28. Jessica says:

I love how diverse and real each and every one of your characters and story-lines are. I love them ALL. I tell people to read your books all the time, I always warn them though that once they are caught up, waiting for your next book is always the most difficult part.

I will admit though I never read teasers! I used to, but I’m just not that patient, once I’m hooked on your characters or plot line I just obsess until I’ve finished the whole thing ;)

  29. Judy Cox says:

The Darkest Hour looks like a great read!! I also love that cover :)

I love those type of stories. I have always been a sucker for happy endings and usually that will mean a happy ending.

  30. Heather S says:

I do like books that feature already established couples, there is a whole new dynamic that you don’t get from the others. I’m really looking forward to this book, can’t wait to read it.

  31. WendyK says:

Humm I can’t think of any titles with Marriage in trouble storylines and I know I’ve read them. Ohh Roxanne Rustand has one, SAVE THE LAST DANCE. It’s a great story. Not sure if it fits what you are talking about, since the couple hasn’t split yet, but they are having issues and when her husband doesn’t answer his cell phone the wife, who I think is named Kate, doesn’t get worried. Until she gets a call that the wreck she drove by was her husband, he was trapped in the car and is now fighting for his life. It’s a great story.

    hugs,
    WendyK

  32. Nikki Barrett says:

I love marriage-in-jeopardy themes. It’s a good feeling when a married couple go through so much, yet they manage to find their happily-ever-after, despite the obstacles that tore them apart. As other’s have mentioned, Sharon Sala has a few stories like that, and I recently read a Marie Force book where the couple was on the brink of divorce, and they find their happily ever after again. I believe it was Line of Scrimmage. I definitely can’t wait for your new series, Maya. I just started reading your books and am hooked, and I LOVE suspense!!

  33. Kelly Thrash says:

Tempting Grace by Anne Rainey is one of my favorites. Thanks to Amazon and my Kindle and all the apps I have found so many authors that I just love. Maya being one of them! :) Thanks and please keep writing!

  34. Rachel Riddles says:

Wow I do love a good marriage in jepeordy plot, especially one that has a wonderful HEA. If I had to pick one it would have to be WildCard by Lora Leigh. She thinks he’s dead, but comes back under a different identity. The emotions in that story were so raw, and felt so real it made me cry. When I saw this blog that was the first book that popped into my mind. Maya I think you are great and can’t wait for your new series, can’t wait until Connor’s book, and pretty much whatever else you write. You are the first erotic romance author I ever read. Thanks for creating a wonderful escape for me =)

  35. Lisa Guertin says:

I have to agree that one of my favorite marriage in jeopardy books is “Wild Card” by Lora Leigh. I just picked up “Be With Me” at BAM tonight and can’t wait to start it. Of course, I already know I’ll enjoy it since it was written by Maya.

  36. MARTHA CASTILLO says:

I have read ALL your books and I have to tell you that I LOVE THEM ALL!! I’m always waiting to see what comes out next. They always leave me wanting more and more.

Congratulations, you do a GREAT job.

  37. Jeanette Juan says:

I think the theme marriage in jeopardy sounds interesting and I haven’t really read that many. I think if it’s written well it’s a fantastic theme. I love your writing so I think yours will be a success, can’t wiat for it to release!

  38. Heather says:

I love these kinds of stories. The ones that I have loved have almost always been one of the Harlequin series stories. I don’t know if I necessarily have a favorite.

Am really looking forward to another one of your books. Would love to read an ARC of it.

  39. azteclady says:

Oh that’s a great blurb! I can’t wait for the release–yay! *marks calendar*

  40. sharon says:

I’m not particularly inclined towards husbands and wives who have been separated only because authors tend to drag out their hurt feelings. But I still always give them a try especially when it comes from an author that I love, such as you! So I’m super excited about this new series and am looking forward to reading about Ethan and Rachel!

  41. MinnChica says:

I’ve only read a few of these stories, but the few I have read have always been phenominal. As much as I love new romance and couples making the decision to want to be together, there is something so special in couples actually making it work. Real life isn’t an HEA, so why should all books be like that too?

  42. Amy m says:

I generally like things steady, but I think that if written well, I would enjoy the jeopardy. Course, anything you write, I would love!

  43. Jackie P says:

My favorite is “Wild Card” by Lora Leigh and then another that is similar in a way to reunited love is Christy Reece’s ” Run To Me”. I love that book. :)

  44. Angela H. says:

Congrats on your next release, and I look forward to reading it. My favorite two are, Stay with me by you of course and I also like Wild Card by Lora Leigh. Thanks for the great contest and I hope you have a great night.

  45. Lesa L says:

This sounds like a ‘keeper’ series for me! I love your work, Maya! WILD CARD by Lora Leigh (like so many other posters have mentioned) is my favorite Marriage in Jeopardy book. It makes me cry everytime I read it. And it seems to haunt me for days after I;ve finished reading it. I’m looking forward to THE DARKEST HOUR!

  46. Alyssa West says:

I’m super excited to read The Darkest Hour!! I have to agree with you Maya- marriage in jeapardy is also one of my favorite themes as well!! :) A great story that comes to mind when I think of this theme is Lawless by Diana Palmer! At first the couple Judd Dunn and Christabel Gaines were married in name only. Judd vowed to ignore the sexual tension between them since he only married her to save their jointly owned ranch from bankruptcy. But just when Judd decided to release Crissy from their sham of a marriage, her life is put in danger… and Judd then realizes he could lose his greatest weakness- his wife. With both of their lives at stake, Crissy and Judd must confront their darkest demons, new rivals, and their deepest desires. I’m so glad that Ali asked for recommendations for books that involved a husband and wife that were forced apart, yet focus on them coming back together! I caaaan’t waaait to start this series that focuses on the Kelly family!! …Ethan and Rachel’s story sounds like an absolute MUST read! I’m such a huge fan of yours- every book of yours that I’ve read so far just blows me away!! thank you for that maya!! :)

  47. BarbaritaV says:

I love that kind of plot as well and I bet this book is going to be HOT. One of the books that I remember with the similar plot is “SECRETS IN THE MARRIAGE BED” by Nalini Singh. You probably read this one since I know you enjoy Desire books very much.

  48. Kris M says:

I love your books and this one looks awesome as well. Please enter me in the giveaway. I cannot wait to read it.

  49. Debra V says:

Oh!! I can’t wait for this book! I LOVE ALL OF YOUR BOOKS AND CAN”T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!!!!

  50. Gabrielle says:

I love reading about a couple so in love that they are willing to fight for that love and keep it no matter what.

  51. Beth says:

I think what I like most about “marriage in jeopardy” stories is that they show that marriage takes work and committment. The easy thing to do is walk away when life gets dramatic… Three of my favorites are ‘The Wedding’ by Nicholas Sparks, ‘The Summer of Two Wishes’ by Julia London, and ‘Stay With Me’ by Maya Banks (of course!)

  52. barb hite says:

love your books, new to your books and have read all that I can find– write fast…. can’t wait

    thanks
    b

  53. catslady says:

As long as I like the characters I’m usually pretty good with any plot. The marriage jeopardy sounds like a good premise. And I’m afraid I’m horrible at remembering titles.

  54. Emily L. says:

I have to say that I haven’t really read a lot of “marriage in jeopardy” books besides your “Stay With Me” (which I really enjoyed) and “Ain’t She Sweet” by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Oh, and A Season Beyond A Kiss by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss(which I also really enjoyed, primarily how their falling in love changed as they had a baby and became parents). I really like the fact that these kind of books typically show how a couple, who have already fallen in love and gotten married and are committed, can separately change and grow apart or face a huge obstacle and can fall back in love and get through their challenges. My favorite moments in those books always seem to be at some kind of breaking point at the end of the couples trials where they both just overcome their fears about each other and the future of their relationship.

  55. Samantha says:

I love the whole “marriage in Jeopardy’ theme. I believe it shows that no matter what some couples grow through you can still find love at the end of the tunnel. I love reading these types of stories.

  56. savonna says:

i enjoy marriage in jeopardy stories. i can’t wait for your new series!!

  57. Moran says:

First of all I just love your books and I can’t wait to read the Darkest Hour!

Second, I love the theme marriage in jeopardy because I like reading about couples that have a history and didn’t meet at the beginning on the story. I also think as some comments mentioned that marriage take lots of work in real life to it makes the story more believable and readers can better relate to the plot.

  58. Joel says:

I like the marriage in jeopardy stories, but what I really like are the relationships in jeopardy stories, like when a couple is seperated by time, or issues or what have you. I have been reading alot of Diana Palmer stories lately and I find that in about half of her stories, I am close to tears with the circumstances of the relationships and how the fight and try to get the relationship back together.

  59. An says:

I’ve never really cared that much for “marriage in jeopardy” theme stories until I read Stay With Me, in Linger and ever since then, I’m all for it. Who doesn’t like emotional wrought scenes where people fight to stay together because in reality, people don’t just fall in love and stay in that happy place.

  60. REGINA ROSS says:

my 2 favs are stay with me by maya and summer of two wishes by julia london.

  61. Stephanie says:

My absolute favorite married and finding their way back is Lora Leigh’s first Elite Ops book, “Wild Card”. I also loved Lorelei James’ “Strong SIlent Type”. I guess I am just a sucker for a happy ending.

  62. Crystal D says:

In my opinion, there don’t seem to be many books out with this theme. Maybe I’ve just missed them but I’m really looking forward to this series.

  63. CrystalGB says:

I enjoy marriage in jeopardy stories. I like to see a couple get a second chance at HEA. The Darkest Hour sounds great. I love the cover.

  64. Cecile says:

Oh gosh… Marriage in jeopardy stories hit to close to home for me. Give me a new romance, or an old flame or even just a couple together… but marriages.. umm.. I don’t deal well with. But… being uncomfortable and pushing pass certain boundaries is a good thing as a reader! But I do love HEA!!!
The Darkest Hour has always intrigued me! Thanks for the chance!

  65. Allie says:

I loved Stay With Me. I’ve made a list of all the favorites people have shared here. I love this theme. One I laughed out loud reading was “If You Could Read My Mind” by Jeanie London. A very cute premise. My favorite part of this kind of thing is when the guy has to grovel a little to win his lady back.

  66. Midnight says:

I really enjoy this theme. I also love it the friends firdt then lovers added into the mix. I like the challenge in a relationship ;)

So many to choose from I can’t think of any except for the some of the previous mention ..

Stay With Me – Maya Banks
    Wild Card – Lora Leigh
Coyote’s Mate – Lora Leigh (there are a couple of Breed books where the mates refuse one another .. would that count?)
“Beat of Temptation” in An Enchanted Season – Nalini Singh (Refused mates again)

    :winks:

  67. I absolutely LOVE relationship in jeapordy stories. I’m a big fan of PNR books and my fave theme seems to be when there are so many obsticles to be together that it seems impossible. I love when a story breaks my heart (i.e. Ethan is mourning the death of Rachel) and I can cry my eyes out with the character, and then I find hope; real hope that makes my breath catch as I turn the pages, one after another b/c I can’t seem to put it down. At times like that it almost feels as if my continuing to read the book will determine the outcome for them…so I must go on. Thank you for the chance to win this book. I really look forward to reading this [no matter how I acquire it :)].

  68. I love marriage in crisis type stories because I think so many women can relate to them, me included. While I enjoy reading Erotica, for 99% of all women that’s a true fantasy (although I’d be willing to try to make fantasy come to life with Micah Hudson)!

My favorite marriage in crisis story is “The Ocean Between Us” by Susan Wiggs. I also have to give a nod to Nicholas Sparks with “The Notebook”.

Can’t wait for The Darkest Hour!

  69. Jane says:

One of my favorites is Sherry Thomas’ “Not Quite A Husband.”

  70. Jennifer D. says:

    Hello,

One of my favorite themes in romance books is reunited couples. So, the marriage in jeopardy theme is one that draws me in every time. I can’t wait to read The Darkest Hour. Some books that I’ve enjoyed with this theme are: Still Mr & Mrs by Mary McBride (although this book is probably 6-7 yrs ago) & Just the Way You Are by Barbara Freethy (about 10 yrs ago). More recently, I enjoyed Christy Reece’s No Chance & Cindy Gerard’s To The Brink (although I think they were divorced in this story).

  71. Cathy M says:

Lora Leigh uses this theme alot and it always makes me a bit teary. Another good one is Beneath The Surface by M.J. Fredrick.

  72. amysmith98 says:

Sounds great! I’ve been waiting for this one!

  73. Nikki says:

I think that when done right they are great. The couple comes out stronger in the end and it is believable. When not done right it seems like a waste of what could have been a good story. I have read some of both. In one instance by the midway point I really didn’t care if they got back together and by the end I wished they hadn’t. With that being said, I have read some that I found myself rooting for them almost from the start. Learning about the shared history between the characters I think adds a lot to a story. It makes it easier to fall in love with them. I am excited about this story for two reasons one being I have yet to read a bad book from you and two you gotta love soldier types.

  74. Sheila says:

Love the theme, most of them I’ve read has been through Silhoutte. I enjoyed Stay With Me and how she was protecting herself from more pain. That she wouldn’t back down from what she wanted.:)

  75. Jessie says:

I love that theme, I like the whole divorced but find a way back to eachother too, Like in Cindy Gerard’s To the Brink. I also like LL’s Wild Card, Lorelei James Strong Silent Type, and Stay with Me

  76. Elaine G says:

I like reading these types of stories. They show how couples work through their relationship/troubles and find their HEA.
The Darkest Hour saounds really good. Can’t wait for it

  77. Pat Cochran says:

Since I am a much older reader & married for almost
50 years, I especially like to read about couples,
whatever their situation. After a mention on the
Writeminded Loop about To The Brink, I checked out
my TBR stack. Sure enough it was there, lonely and
unread, so I scooped it up and I’m now reading it.
    (Good book by Cindy Gerard.)

    Pat Cochran

  78. Jaimie says:

I love the marriage in jeopardy theme. Too often in books marriage is made to look so easy which is not reality so its nice to see real life!

  79. Jia says:

Ahhh Maya I think what sets the marriage in jeopardy theme apart is, it doesnt have the typical “meet attract, fall in love” scene. The couple has been there, done that and they are now at crossroads and need to find their way back. Her wedding wish by Jillian heart is a personal favorite of mine. How the couple gets back together with two kids in toe is absolutely fantastic! After reading stay with me i really wanted to to read another one from you on this theme. Ofcourse I read Long road home and the short one love me still…all with couples having to find their way back together but none of them were married. Its great to see one on this theme from you. Desperately awaiting its release! Love ya!

  80. Ally says:

I’m really interested in reading this book and am so excited for it to come out.
This is a total new theme to me in the romance genre and I so looking forward to finding out if it’s one I’m going to enjoy.
    :)

  81. Jessica says:

I hope I’m not too late! First of all I love your books Maya. You are actually one of the first romance author’s I read. I am not sure how I feel about marriage problem stories. I have never read one. I do like to read stories about couples that go through problems and overcome them. I guess the principal is the same…. love conquers all!

  82. Stephanie says:

Sounds like a good one! Can’t wait to read it.

  83. JAW says:

I can’t recall any marriage in jeoparday stories I’ve read, except Stay With Me, which was awesome. But I have to say there’s not much sexier than a man fighting for his woman. There’s just so much more to it when there’s a relationship and a bond already established and they have to fight for it to stay intact. I love the premise and can’t wait to ready the Kelly brothers. Thanks for all your awesome books!

  84. Larena Wirum says:

I can’t really think of any marriage in jeopardy stories but I am really looking forward to this book coming out.

  85. Angela says:

Fighting for someone you love is always romantic. Looking forward to reading this one!

  86. Ana Ovi says:

I can’t remember if I’ve commented on this yet. I love romance in general but one of my favorite themes in romance is second love.

And I mean like reunited love, two people who were in love but were separated. Then they find themselves in love again later.

I’m super excited about this new series Maya.

Your writing is always so amazing and refreshing :D

  87. april s says:

I really love Rawhide & Lace by Diana Palmer–its one of Diana’s early ones and one of her best I think. Another good one is one of yours Maya–“Stay with Me”–you write some terrific books but SWM is one of my tops about couples getting back together when the odds are against them….then Lora Leigh has one “Wild Card”–I love this book so much by LL that I have had to reorder the book because I wore my copy out because I read it over and over again…those are my top 3 fav…I do love couples who reunite back together and I am soo psyched for The Darkest Hour to arrive…. :)

  88. tamibates says:

i seen on facebook, this is last day for contest, well i lucked up and got here !

  89. Heike Wellmann says:

Marriage in jeopardy thems are often interesting, if they´re written well, because of the idea to “work” on a relationship. It needs commitment and compromise, respect and acceptance. Your new bookd sounds really promising. I love “Stay with Me” and “The strong silent type” by Lorelei James.

Good luck and many greetings from Germany, Heike

  90. i like stories of navy seals, or any other miitary, they are hero’s and they are hunky men. I enjoy any kind of romance, and if its husband trying to hook-up again with his wife thats so cool. This is personnel, but I’m having trouble in my marriage and I’ve taken some advice from books that I’ve been reading, its not working but thats not saying much for he doesn’t want to work at it anymore, but in the book its sounds so good when a man says I’m sorry, and tries to make-up. My husband nver says sorry for he thinks its all my fault, never takes the blame for anything. But thats my life, gotta get out of this empty marriage, but I love a good romance.

  91. OrielaJ says:

I love “Marriage In Jeopardy” storylines. There is just something about two people that love each other more than anything in the world, try to over cvome their differences to reunit. Some of my favorites are from the Harlequin/Silhouette Collections {to many to mention} But I’m looking forward to your new Series. Happy Writing.

  92. Scorpio M. says:

I love reunion stories so marriage in jeopardy is a play on that. Lorelie James’, Strong Silent Type and Theresa Weir’s, One Fine Day are two great reads with this theme.

You know, I think it’s a sign of just so much reading, but I can’t think of a one. . . and I know I read books where it starts that the hero/ine already married. Had a hard time thinking of reunion stories, even though I know I’ve read plenty of those too. LOL Think most of the ones I’ve read with marriage in jeopardy have been historical, but I imagine I’ve read plenty with the theme in the Presents line or such. :)

i like books like this one by you. Cause I know marriage takes work I’ve been going on 25 yrs to the same man. and lord knows there were times when I didn’t just want to divorce him but was serisouly searching for a way to hide the body. It’s hard to stay together for sure. But I am not particularly fond of the one that divorce and then get back together. I think that should be the last option after you’ve tried everything else. but if it’s a good story I’d probably read it. Your new series sounds fantastic and I am looking forward to reading it.

  95. Christine Slaughter says:

I love the theme marriage in Jepodary. There is nothing sexier than two (or more) people so deep in love and then encountering a hiccup in their relationship. I absoultely loved Stay with Me. Any story of a marriage in trouble, even if it a subplot in the story, brings tears to my eyes. I cry like a baby when the partners finally get back together and have their HAE.

First I’d like to say, Maya, I LOVE your books!!! Thank you for writing them for us to read!!!

As for the “marriage in jeopardy” theme, I like it, but for me my “keepers” are the stories where you can really FEEL the emotion between the two characters.

A few of my favorites right now are historical romances. Jennifer Ashley’s “Lady Isabella’s Scandalous Marriage”, Kathryn Smith’s “When Marrying a Scoundrel”, and Cathy Maxwell’s “The Earl Claims His Wife”.

Also, I’ve noticed quite a few of y’all have mentioned Lora Leigh… I’m going to have to pick up some of her books! I’ve heard nothing but good things about her!!

  97. Laura M says:

i always enjoy the stories of couples in trouble and find out what they really mean to each other.
i enjoy stories of the man falling for the average woman
when he leasts expects it like in judith mcnaughts perfect.
something like jennifer crusies book agnes then hitman, and lorie o’clare tall, dark and deadly stories, and elizabeth hoyt to desire a devil and to beguile a beast.
i also enjoyed the brotherhood series by jr ward.
looking forward to your new series.

  98. Heidi says:

As popular as marriage in crisis stories are, they just don’t interest me. I’m not knocking them what so ever. I really think the reason, is that my age and non-married status don’t allow me to personally connect with the characters.

  99. Glenna Taylor says:

  102. Missy says:

I’m not a big fan of those. Probably because I’m still single and I’ve never been married so I can’t relate. :)

    1. Missy says:

My bad hit send before I meant to cause I got sidetracked by Forrest Gump on TV lol. Anyways I am very excited about this new series. Though I don’t actively search out the marriage in jeopardy stories I don’t let it stop me from reading them if it is a favorite author or a book that calls to me.

  103. Sherry says:

I love seeing the couple work their way back to each other and seeing their love reborn. :)

  104. WendyK says:

I could have sworn I posted a comment earlier, but I don’t see it.

I can’t really think of any marriage in trouble stories.

But I’m eager to read THE DARKEST HOUR!
    oh I did think of:
SAVE THE LAST DANCE by Roxanne Rustand.
